He grew up in Melbourne, Australia and she grew up in sunny San Diego. He moved to Austin for work, and college brought her to 100-degree-temperature-Texas. They met at a Tom Petty concert. Though it seems like chance that they met, Heather says that they probably would have met at some point because they had so many mutual friends. Three years later, they’re going strong and loving life in Melbourne. Joe moved back to head up a company there, and Heather has happily spent the last eighteen months with him.
They’re crazy about each other. He absorbs every ounce of her when he looks at her. Her smile stretches across her face and he makes her smile as no other man could. This is love.
I met Heather during Architecture school and squealed when I saw her name pop up in my inbox. Her request was that they wanted something to reflect them and Austin. These are their first photographs taken together, and hopefully not the last. I hope they bring them joy as they reminisce about Austin while they’re in Australia. They contain pieces of some of their favorite Austin attributes – an East Austin park, South Congress, and escaping the heat to have a beer at Guero’s.

I told them when they get engaged, I’m booking my ticket to photograph their Australian wedding. Wouldn’t that be awesome?
Heather and Joe, it was such a pleasure to take your photos and hang out with you. I can’t wait to visit Australia – it’s all I can think about! A HUGE thank you to my assistant Paige for the day!
