This is just a little bit of what’s been going on in my life lately. There are over 1100 photos on my iPhone, and I thought I should share some of them. Explanations below to correlate with each photograph…
ETA: I had a lot of messages about what I was using for these photos. I am ADDICTED to instagram, an iPhone app. You can take the photograph and then ‘edit’ it before publishing it directly to facebook, twitter, or emailing it to family and friends. You can keep tabs on your friends and ‘like’ their photos or comment on them through the app also. If you’d like, please follow me on there. My username is “magan” (I know… really original.![]()
1. We’ve really been enjoying our new house. It’s windy here – extremely windy especially since there are so few trees around. I’ve been told it’s because there are few buildings to block the wind. There’s hardly anything I like more than sitting out on our back patio with our neighbors/friends after a long day of work. It’s so peaceful and quiet here. It’s a nice change of pace from my typical crazy schedule.
2. This is the Anthropologie inspired DIY lamp shade I made. I posted about it here, but I’m still so in love with it. I think it’s my favorite thing I’ve made for our house so far.
3. This is the shower curtain I made for our guest bathroom. I made one just like it, except in grey and white, for our master bathroom too. I wanted the curtains to be floor to ceiling to emphasize the height of our ceilings. I haven’t quite figured out what I want to tie the curtains back with. Dustyn is not a fan of the ripped piece of recycled fabric I’m currently using.
4. I bought four of these great chairs from an antique store for quite a deal. They were painted a sea foam green color and I thought I could easily repaint them and make them more “us”. This is a photograph taken during the stripping process to remove the current paint. Unbeknownst to me, there were four layers of paint. I’ve only completed one chair of the four so far. I painted it plain white. Three more to go, and I’m trying to research other alternatives to stripping the paint. Maybe I’ll just try sanding it next time.
5 and 6. I’ve been spending a lot of time with my fellow photographer ladies. Pictured here are Sherry and Leah (with her baby girl Harper). Relationships are so important when you’re self-employed. It can be so seclusive to work by yourself day after day, so I’ve found it’s extremely important to make myself leave the house and hang out with friends for a good meal.
7. This was sewn onto a pillow I saw in a store. I am going to be making pillows for our house to blend all the colors I have happening together, and I think this looks like something I could accomplish. Cutting out the circles will be a pain, but the end result will be adorable.
8. That’s Dustyn and Jules. They snuggled up after a long day to watch a little bit of the Simpson’s (the husband’s favorite show). Jules snores like a work horse, so I’m not sure how she wasn’t disrupting his television viewing experience.
9. I am in a studio downtown now on 6th street. This is one of the new canvases that will soon be gracing the walls there from Gloria and Evan’s wedding. It’s sitting on one of the new chairs we have in our living room.
10. I don’t think I ever updated you guys to show you the brown hair. That’s what I look like right now. I’m thinking maybe I’ll go a little lighter for the spring/summer. I definitely just needed a change since I’m growing my hair out. The easiest change is the color.
11. That was my fortune cookie at dinner last night. Simply stated. I hope I do find beauty in ordinary things, moments, places…
12. And again, that’s my husband. Dustyn found this old hat at his parent’s house last night and promised me he’ll be mowing our lawn while wearing it. Oh, goodie! (So much sarcasm infused in that little sentence.) I love that man and all his quirkiness.
What’s going on in your life? How has your spring been?

A Sentimental Good-bye to 2011 | Austin's Family, Newborn, Baby, and Children Photographer | Magan's Lens - [...] not sure I took a picture every single day, I know I took well over that amount cumulatively. Here’s a little post I did with only Instagram [...]
Magan - Hey Gloria! The paint stripper is from Home Depot. It was in the paint/spray paint section of the store. In a big metal can. Note: you’ll need gloves if you use this stuff.
Gloria - 1. What did you use to strip the paint from that chair?
2. It IS seclusive to be self-employed. Not only do I feel like my butt spends way too much time in my office chair, but I get REALLY lonely.
3. I cannot wait to see that canvas.
(numbers obviously not in the same order as yours)
