Temporary Remodel

Hi Magan’s Lens followers…

I’m updating the blog, changing the layout, trying to make the pictures bigger so they’re easier to view, and figuring out the slideshow features for wordpress.  Please bare with me while I get all of this figured out. In the meantime, view the old blog here.

Have a wonderful New Year. Hello, 2010! (almost.)

Magan - Test comment. :)

[oops] Tuesday

I knew exactly what I was going to write about yesterday for our [insert word here] Tuesday edition, but I never stopped going long enough to sit down at my computer. So, welcome to our Wednesday edition of [oops] Tuesday.

Magan’s Lens will be closed between today, December (almost typed November… time is flying by way to fast!) 23rd until January 4th. I will be checking my email, so please feel free to drop me a line or two if you have something you’re planning for the new year. If we have previously scheduled appointments during those times, I will be there. There will be no new appointments made between this time, however.

Thank you for making this first Christmas season so memorable. We’ve had some absolutely fantastic Christmas cards designed this year. I hope your friends and family have enjoyed receiving them in the mail. Thank you for being so flexible and making it remarkably easy for me to meet up with you to delivery your orders. I hope you have a blessed Christmas and a very wonderful New Year.

A few things you can look forward to in the New Year are:

-the launch of the http://www.maganslens.com/ website! (YAY!)
-a new blog. We’ll be switching over to wordpress.com for hosting and making things a little classier.
-a revamped logo.

Again, THANK YOU for being so wonderful. You have made the first five months of Magan’s Lens an absolute pleasure.

Mary Marantz - Happy New Year Magan!!

Three Children with the BEST Names

I mentioned in another post, I have been working with children that have the best names. The Taylor Family is no exception. The parents are Amie and Neil, and they have three beautiful children – Javan (oldest), Maren (precious middle child), and Meilin (4-month old baby). The Taylor Family and I connected thanks to our friends Bob and Brenda.

The Taylor’s have great friends with gorgeous property in Leander; there are barns, horses, an in-ground trampoline, and a guest house. The guest house is where we spend the majority of our time because it was decorated so gorgeously. Everything in the house is an antique – the doors, the bed, the cabinetry, the license plates lining the bathroom wall. It was pure awesomeness. Thank you, Neil, Amie, Javan, Maren, and Meilin for being such great sports. Your family is so precious!

Here is a little preview of the Taylor Family Session. Enjoy!

Pam - Gorgeous pictures Magan. I think I want three more kids and a guest house full of antiques now. Would this be possible for Christmas?

Wide Open Fields

Oh. My. Goodness. I am so excited to share these photos with you. My Mom works with a wonderful teacher, Shelley. As Magan’s Lens has been evolving, Mom has been passing on emails of some of the sessions (she receives emails with the blog post every time I post something). Shelley was the lucky recipient of one of those emails, and we started chatting about photographing her family. (Mom told me before that Shelley’s children are extremely photogenic.)  With all the craziness that is the holiday season, we were finally able to make our schedules connect. And I’m SO glad they did…

You are going to adore the names of Shelley and Wayne’s kids: Daeghan and Dyson. Precious, huh? I love it!  Their personalities are just as wonderful – Dyson had great ideas for posing. He has the cutest little smile and giggle. Daeghan is so beautiful. She has this whimsical look about her and I love her smile. Aren’t kids with missing teeth so much fun?

Our session was located at their house in Caldwell, TX. The colors turned out so awesome. We had a mostly overcast day – and I loved it. Aside from the few moments the sun decided to come out, the overcast sky allowed Shelley, Wayne, Daeghan, and Dyson to open their eyes without squinting. Thank you, wonderful Texas winter weather!

Without further ado, I introduce you to the Drgac family.

Pam - I actually got to tag along during this photo session. It was awesome watching Magan in action. The Drgac family is so photogentic. I know them personally and I knew Magan would not have a hard time getting some really great photos of them. They turned out great Magan! Shelley, you and Wayne have an amazingly cute family….loved the pictures.

Big Voice, Big Dreams

I’ve been waiting a long time to share these photos with you; I met Lindsay Wynn, a musician in the great city of Austin, via Craigslist. She was seeking a photographer for her upcoming album cover. She was drawn to particular place in one of the photos I had previously taken of a wall on South Congress. We met to pour over album covers, ideas, and she handed me a CD with a preview of the music and more photos she liked.

I listened to her music, scrutinized over the photos she admired, and prepped for the session. We met on South Congress at the black and white wall; Lindsay brought her guitar and 60-lb. amp. She was probably the most organized person I have ever photographed. She had each outfit meticulously planned out, down to the accessory. Each change of clothes was neatly packed into a separate bag so she could quickly change. It was so awesome to work with someone who was so organized.

The second portion of our session was done at the old warehouse/cemetary in East Austin. The lighting was perfect, resulting in some really emotional photos. The moods are very different between the two locations, but this is exactly what was necessary for Lindsay to choose a potential photo for her cover. Her album drops in January – be on the lookout for Lindsay Wynn. I think you’re really going to enjoy her sound, and personally, I think she’s just awesome.

Enjoy the small sampling of her photos.  Leave comments, or find out what else Magan’s Lens has been up to.
